Thinking about the hurting family just brought tears to my eyes again tonight, and I knew I needed to write something...
But what can you say to someone who has lost a person so close and dear? A person who can never ever be replaced?
Well-meaning people say things meant to console the grief-stricken: "Keep your head up. You'll get through this." Yeah, right! "God's always with you." Then how could He let this happen?
Really all we can do through times like this is "hope and pray." This phrase, often tossed around, sounds cliche, almost meaningless. But our hope is true - that we WILL see the one we lost again. And the part about praying....it won't be like any of our prayers before. Sometimes we'll be angry, sad, lonely, depressed. He understands. He listens. He holds us in His arms.
As Jamie Grace wrote:
His arms are holding you
His love will see you through
When you try not to cry but to take it
All the stress, and the hurt and the heartache
You may feel pain
But not as great as His name
You're not alone
No you're not alone
To anyone reading this who has lost a loved one...my love and prayers go out to you.
