I mean, it's obvious. Who wants to fall apart?
We've all got our "kingdoms" - walls we've built to keep ourselves safe and happy. God, no thanks, I've got it from here. The thing is it's not just the unbelievers who build kingdoms. It's the Christians too. It's me.
We all try to find our own saviors. The wallet, the relationship status, the opinion of others... Anything to distract our aching hearts.
But the truth is, we have to come to Jesus broken. Not touting our goodness or proclaiming our strength. No, to be poured out for Him we have to be all in pieces like that alabaster jar. Because it's only when we come to the end of ourselves that we can see God waiting there for us. We must empty of all self to receive all of Him. To bless Him, others, ourselves. The scent of His glorious grace could fill this world.
And hasn't He shown the way? He was broken for love; His blood was poured out for us.
Father, I have no strength on my own. No goodness I can produce. Gently tear down these walls I've built and let Your perfect love enter in.
"Christ wrecks us, holds us. and rebuilds us; it is the greatest blessing we can ever hope for."
